Collier earned one of the highest honors bestowed by the Boy Scouts of America, the prestigious "Silver Buffalo" award, in 1932, for his active support. The exhibit will detail Collier's association with prominent political and philanthropic figures of the time as well as his efforts to promote Scouting both in New York and across America. Florida's Indigenous Tribes

The Florida's Indigenous Tribes exhibit explains the development of Florida’s Native cultures from nomadic hunter-gatherers to sedentary agriculturists and sophisticated mound-building chiefdoms. The exhibit also traces the spread of ideas, social organization, and technology over the past 2500 years. The exhibit will be on display at the Immokalle Pioneer Museum. The Friends of the Collier Museum present: History and Service.
Since its founding in 1986, the Friends of the Collier County Museum have taken a leadership role in assuring that the historic and archaeological resources of Collier County are responsible cared for and preserved. Essential to this goal is the organization's mission to provide a wide base of public support for the Collier County Museum, and to encourage its development as a cultural and educational institution of excellence. Over the years, the Friends have contributed funding, professional services and countless volunteer hours to aid with the restoration of historic buildings and artifacts, support family-centered educational and cultural programs, and steadily improve the quality of the Museum's collections and exhibits.

The Collier County Museum operates four unique museums, each offering a glimpse into our past. The main Museum, located in East Naples, captures the full landscape of our local history. Explore the 5-acres of native gardens, restored cottages, Seminole village, and Calusa Indian camp. The Immokalee Pioneer Museum at Robert's Ranch gives visitors a rare opportunity to experience the daily working life on a Southwest Florida homestead. The Ranch is located in downtown Immokalee, a scenic 44-mile drive east of Naples. The Museum of the Everglades is located in the historic town of Everglades City, 35 miles east of Naples. This faithfully restored 1927 laundry building offers a look back at some of the earliest settlers in the area, and gives visitors a unique perspective on the building of the Tamiami Trail. The newest addition to the Collier County Museum is the Naples Depot, built in 1927 by the Seaboard Air Line Railroad. Located in downtown Naples, the Depot will tell the story of how trade and travel transformed Naples from a napping village of 300 people into today's glittering Gulf Coast resort. The Depot is currently undergoing an extensive restoration, and will be open to the public in early 2010. The Museum of the Everglades, Robert's Ranch, and the Naples Depot are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and have been painstakingly restored to their original appearances.

Established in 1978, the Collier County Museums offer a rich sampling of the people, places, and events that make this area's history and heritage well worth exploring. It's a story that's far too big to be told in just one visit - or one museum.

General admission to all of the Collier County Museums is free.
Donations are gratefully accepted and help to support the Museum's exhibitions and educational programs.
All museums are fully accessible to the handicapped and parking is free.
