Since its founding in 1986, the Friends have taken a leadership role in assuring that the historic and archaeological resources of Collier County are responsibly cared for and preserved to enrich the lives of future generations of citizens. Essential to this goal is the organization's mission to provide a wide base of public support for the Collier County Museum and to encourage its development as a cultural and educational institution of excellence.

Operating as a 501-c(3) not-for-profit corporation and chartered under the laws of the State of Florida, the Friends were responsible for the relocation and expansion of the museum in 1987 and have actively continued the ongoing development of a five-acre historical park at the County Government Center in East Naples.

Over the years, our Friends have contributed funding, professional services and countless volunteer hours to aid with the restoration of historic buildings and artifacts, support family-centered educational and cultural programs, and steadily improve the quality of the museum's collections and exhibitions. A remarkably successful innovation, the Children's Museum Express, assists Collier County's schools, public or private, by helping to underwrite transportation costs for an educational field trip to the museum.
